Our (unofficial) local student chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery at NMU is focused on applying the academic aspects of computer science and gaming into a fun, social environment. The organization allows computer science students and other computer programmers and aficionados to meet up with each other and organize activities based on the interests of the group members.

- Currently ongoing: We're working on becoming an official student chapter of the ACM.
- Fall 2008 semester: Meeting dates and times to be announced when the semester begins.
- Discussion/debate talk: e.g., OpenGL vs. DirectX, C++ vs C# vs Java vs Objective-C vs Smalltalk vs D, etc.
- Computing talks in various subject areas, including the following: algorithms, design, documentation, economics, experimentation, human factors, languages, legal aspects, management, measurement, performance, reliability, security, standardization, theory, and verification.
